Spring into 2019 with These Fun, Fashion-Forward Shoe Trends for Women

It’s 2019, and the new year means it’s time to make space in your closet for spring’s latest trends, and there are some great shoe trends to choose from for the new season. The spring 2019 runways, from New York to Paris, showed off a very diverse collection of shoes, from sturdy, functional sandals to feathered footwear. Try one or all of these fun, fashion-forward shoe trends as we dive into spring.

Feathered Footwear

This spring one of the hottest trends is wearing feathers – on your feet. According to Marie Claire, feathered flats and heels dominated spring runways, with designers like Simone Rocha and Valentino getting in on this style. Different designers are adding plumage in different ways, with some adding feathers to the straps and others attaching them to the heels.

Take a simple pair of black jeans to new levels with a pair of feathered black booties or finish off a LBD with a standout pair of feather stilettos

The Sculptured Heel

One of the most unusual shoe trends for spring 2019 is the sculptured heel, which you can find in many different geometric shapes. These innovative heels are like architectural feats you can actually wear, and they add a sense of drama to an outfit, whether you’re headed to work or going to a party. To wear the sculptured heel, make sure you keep the rest of your look simple so your footwear gets the spotlight.
For work, pair them with a black pencil skirt and a blazer. If you’ll be partying, choose a simple party dress so your shoes can shine.

Practical Sandals

For spring/summer 2018, the Birkenstock was the hottest sandal, and for spring and summer 2019 a similar flat sandal with lug soles is on-trend according to Vogue.

Designers like Michael Kors, Dries Van Noten, and Hermes all offered sturdy black sandals that are both comfortable and practical. Wear them with a pair of jeans for a day or running errands or wear them with a pair of wide-legged pants or a maxi skirt to work.

Bows on Booties

Bows on booties and pumps were hot on the runways for spring 2019, and you’ll want to try this whimsical trend yourself. Marc Jacobs added bows to pumps while Rodarte added a bow to booties for a cutesy look. Pretty bright-colored booties with bows look great with a simple spring sundress while a pair of slingback pumps with bows look good with a tailored suit for work.

Anything Animal Print

While animal print footwear was a big trend this winter, Cosmo notes that it continues to be a hot style to wear this spring. Animal print pumps and platform shoes let you enjoy a walk on the wild side this spring. If you like the fashion-forward look of mixing prints, wear a pair of animal print stilettos with a fun floral dress or skirt.

Pretty Printed Shoes

You probably already know that pretty prints and florals are in for spring 2019, but they’re also a big trend in footwear for the season. Statement prints of all types were seen on the runways, according to Who What Wear

Adding printed boots, pumps, and mules to your spring wardrobe give you a bit more of what you love about the spring season – color and fun. Pretty printed shoes look great with your favorite pair of skinny jeans, but don’t be afraid to pair them with spring florals and patterns, too.
